An Italian Thanksgiving Menu
Many Italian-American families serve a pasta course and an antipasto board alongside the turkey. Here is an easy Italian Thanksgiving menu built from pantry staples, so you can prep ahead and enjoy the day.
1. Antipasto board (while the turkey rests)
Castelvetrano and Kalamata olives, cheese-stuffed cherry peppers, marinated artichokes, taralli and rosemary grissini, plus two or three cheeses and cured meats. Drizzle balsamic glaze over the cheese.
Shop: aperitivo & antipasto · balsamic glaze
2. The pasta course: baked stuffed shells
Stuff organic conchiglioni with ricotta, spinach and parmesan, cover with marinara and mozzarella and bake until bubbly. Assemble the day before and bake while the turkey rests.
3. Italian touches for the sides
- Toss roasted Brussels sprouts with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
- Add chopped olives and sun dried tomatoes to your stuffing.
- Brine the turkey with coarse Sicilian sea salt.
4. Dessert: tiramisu and biscotti
Make a tiramisu with lady fingers the day before (it gets better overnight) and serve coffee with almond biscotti and amaretti. Recipe: classic tiramisu.
